More about La Chaumiere Holiday Cottage, Morbihan
We have installed fireplaces in all our other cottages in keeping with this Breton style and all have woodburning stoves. We have a plentiful supply of fuel sourced from our adjacent woodland area and provide this for our guests at no extra cost. So La Garenne is an ideal retreat for a spring or autumn break as well as summer.
With a similar aspect to La Grange, you will look out from La Chaumiere over the length of the Blavet valley with nothing but our ancient cider press in the foreground, which Jeanine, our caretaker, has colourfully adorned with geraniums. You will not cease to be astounded on every occasion that you steal a glance out of the cottage windows!
When we purchased La Garenne, La Chaumiere had a lean-to storage area adjacent to it, with a rusting corrugated iron roof. We have replaced the iron with slate and converted this space to an attractive, spacious verandah where you can sit and enjoy watching the valley’s abundant birdlife over breakfast or an alfresco dinner watching the lengthening shadows down the valley!
Downstairs La Chaumiere has a cosy interior, with living, kitchen and dining areas intertwined beneath the old beams and in the glow of the woodburning stove. Upstairs, La Chaumiere was formerly fitted with hay lofts, which have now become its cosy double bedroom, twin bedroom with a double and single bed sleeping three and fully fitted bathroom with separate bath and shower units. A cot is available on request.
